MSC Southeast invited to join Advanced Manufacturing Center of Excellence; offering Camp Trade & Technology for 10, 11, & 12th graders this summer
(Winona, MN) July 3, 2018 -- This spring, the Advanced Manufacturing Center of Excellence invited Minnesota State College Southeast to be its newest member. Based on the campus of Bemidji State University, the Advanced Manufacturing Center of Excellence is a group of Minnesota State higher education institutions that work together to build strong connections with industry.
"As a member of the Advanced Manufacturing Center of Excellence, we will be able to participate in a number of programs that provide education and outreach to middle and high school students, parents, and other key influencers at the schools," says MSC Southeast Interim President Larry Lundblad. "We want to encourage younger students to consider careers in manufacturing."
The first initiative supported by the Advanced Manufacturing Center of Excellence will take place this summer, when MSC Southeast will offer a high school day camp experience in manufacturing:
Camp Trade & Technology
For Incoming High School Students in Grades 10, 11, and 12
Mon-Thurs, August 6 - 9, 2018 - 8 am to 12 noon
Minnesota State College Southeast, Winona campus
1250 Homer Road, Winona, MN

MSC Southeast faculty will provide a great opportunity for young people to sample four different high-demand, high-paying careers in hands-on learning experiences:
- Welding with Casey Mann
- CNC Machine Tool with Roger Holland & Paul Paul Sorenson
- CAD Drafting with Jim Ziegler
- Electronics with Mark Kalis
The cost to participate is only $25, which includes all four days of instruction, a camp t-shirt, light refreshments, and camp materials. Space is limited so early registration is recommended. Registration closes on August 1.
"We look forward to having high school kids on our campus who might be familiar with manufacturing, but have never had the opportunity to see or try the equipment first hand," says Jen Olson, Director of Continuing Education and Customized Training. "Thanks to our partnership with the Advanced Manufacturing Center of Excellence, high school students will now have this opportunity in a fun and safe learning environment."
