Minnesota State College - Southeast Technical 2016-2017 tuition set to decrease by one percent
Winona, MN (May 31, 2016) -- For the past four years, tuition at Minnesota State College - Southeast Technical has been frozen at $167.31 per credit. But in the 2016-2017 academic year tuition is will decrease by one percent to $165.64 per credit.
"We have held the line on the cost of tuition; now we're reducing it. Even a one percent reduction is a benefit to our students, especially as so many other expenses in their lives keep rising," says Nate Emerson, Southeast Technical's Vice President of Student Services.
The good news gets even better once the effect of financial aid is factored in. Changes to the Minnesota State Grant Program that take effect this year are projected to benefit students at state colleges as well as state universities so that all students who benefit from the State Grant will see a decrease in net tuition.
For Minnesota State Colleges and Universities students receiving state and Pell grants, the estimated average annual tuition cost for attending a state 2-year college full-time is $894.
"Our state colleges and universities remain the lowest cost, highest value option in higher education in Minnesota," says Steven Rosenstone, chancellor of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities. "Affordability and accessibility ensure that our colleges and universities can be places of hope and opportunity for all Minnesotans."
Tuition at Minnesota State public colleges is less than one-third the cost of private trade schools. These differences save students tens of thousands of dollars and leave students with dramatically less debt upon graduation.
