The Carpentry program at Minnesota State College Southeast in Winona will help you learn the skills you need to enter this in-demand field.
Carpenters make up the largest group of building-trade workers. They work quickly, accurately, and efficiently to maximize use of time and materials.
At MSC Southeast, our students gain hands-on skills in the carpentry lab and in a real-world environment. Planning, designing, estimating, and blueprint reading are also integral parts of the Carpentry program.
Each year, the students in our Carpentry program build a house from the ground up. Just as they would on a commercial construction site, students work side-by-side with the skilled sub-contractors who grade the construction site, pour concrete, and install plumbing and electrical systems.
Students also build, finish, and install custom cabinets according to the design specifications provided by the owner for the kitchen and bathrooms.
MSC Southeast's Carpentry program graduates can look forward to an improving job market as the construction industry continues to rebound. A 2014 study ranked carpentry among the top 10 high growth, high pay occupations in Minnesota through 2022.
With a shortage of qualified carpenters in the job market, graduates of MSC Southeast's Carpentry program find numerous job opportunities. Minnesota State College Southeast offers diploma and associate degree programs in carpentry, and also provides certificate programs for carpenters who are seeking additional training.
