Are you ready for college sports? As of Fall 2019, MSC Southeast is one of the few colleges in the Minnesota State system that doesn't have any competitive athletic teams, but that's beginning to change this year.
A student survey taken in this fall revealed strong student interest in three sports opportunities: Clay Target in Winona, and eSports and Biking in Red Wing.
With the hiring of Coach Chad Haines, the college has already set its sights on starting a Clay Target team. This fall, Coach Haines has been recruiting new members to participate at the club level. This means they will practice together for fun but won't compete at the collegiate level yet.
The Clay Target group has been meeting on Sundays at the Winona Sportsman's Club (22933 Gun Club Rd, Winona, MN) at 12 noon. They will meet the next few weeks and may continue further into the fall depending on the weather. Chad expects to continue building the group next spring, with a goal of competing with other colleges starting in Fall 2020.

Clay Target is one of the fastest growing competitive sports on college campuses. The sport is enormously popular in Minnesota high schools. College club teams can choose to participate in up to four different clay target shooting sport "virtual" recreational leagues. "Virtual" means that teams shoot at their local shooting range(s), submit the scores online, and then the scores are compared against all other team scores in their respective conference. No time off for long-distance travel is required.
