Winona (pop. 27,000) lies on the banks of the Mississippi River with a backdrop of beautiful high bluffs and lush countryside. The town is located about 45 miles east of Rochester, Minnesota and 30 miles north of LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Winona's three institutions of higher learning - Minnesota State College Southeast, Winona State University, and Saint Mary's University of Minnesota - add to the educational experiences available. The Minnesota Marine Art Museum, the Great River Shakespeare Festival, Mid West Music Fest and many other cultural amenities make Winona an exceptional place to live and learn. While most students live in nearby apartments, dormitory housing is available at Winona State University.
The Winona campus is located on the south end of town, just off the corner of Highways 61 and 43. There are 3 public buildings on 71 acres. Sugar Loaf Bluff is just across Highway 43 from the campus. (directions)
Food Service: Hot and cold breakfast and lunch, including a salad bar, are available in the Student Commons when school is in session.
MSC Southeast does not offer housing on campus. Most students from out of town must rely on privately owned rental housing. The college keeps a running list of available rental housing in the area. Stop by the front desk or call to request a copy (507-453-2700).
We recommend that incoming students arrange for housing well in advance of the start of classes. The college does not assume any liability arising from the relationship between landlord and tenant.
