About Red Wing and Winona

The Red Wing Campus and Community - Close to a number of transfer colleges in both Minnesota and Wisconsin, the Red Wing campus is perched above the Mississippi River. Cultural and recreational opportunities abound, and can enhance your study of the natural and human world. Besides music from our instrument repair programs echoing in the halls of campus, you can hear great performances at the Sheldon Theater or at many other local venues, or you can view world-class art work at the Anderson Center. You can fish and boat on the big river, ski at nearby resorts, bike on the Cannon Valley Trail, enjoy area Trout streams, bird and eagle watch or hike on our dramatic bluffs, or sip a latte in our historic red brick downtown. The Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul are an easy 40 minute drive away.

The Winona Campus and Community - Winona lies on the banks of the Mississippi River with a backdrop of beautiful high bluffs and lush countryside. It has a rich heritage dating back to the Indian mound builders, Father Louis Hennepin, and the lumber industry. Today's city of 26,000 supports a variety of businesses that center around plastics, technology and farming. Its three institutions of higher learning bring a flavor all its own and add to the educational experiences available. The Minnesota Marine Art Museum, Winona State University, St. Mary's University, the Great River Shakespeare Festival, bike paths, canoe and kayak routes and many other amenities make Winona a great place to live and learn.
