Antonio Espinosa - Art from the Inside 
Art From the Inside
seeks to use art as a way to give voice to one of the most marginalized populations in our state, individuals who are incarcerated. Founder Antonio Espinosa will share how Art From the Inside came into being and has exposed community members to works of art from men and women incarcerated in the state of Minnesota. He will also talk about how art serves as a form of healing and transformation, as well as a centerpiece for the difficult conversations about incarceration.

  • Chad Dull, Josiah Litant and Lynne Rabuse - Know Your Rights: Classroom 
    This panel will discuss students' rights in the classroom, providing students and faculty with an awareness for handling difficult conversations and navigating MSCS with regard to discrimination.

  • Arielle Pompilius - Aspec identities in the classroom
    This session will provide a brief explanation of Asexual and Aromantic orientations and offer information on supporting your Aspec students and classmates and navigating education as a student on the Asexual or Aromantic spectrum.

  • Chris Stout - Poverty & Mindset
    Instructor Chris Stout shares his own personal experience growing up in poverty as well as insights from the book "A Framework for Understanding Poverty" by Ruby Payne on how money shapes the way we think.  Everything from how we view relationships, to what personality traits we prioritize, to the "hidden rules" between classes.

  • ACLU, Chris Cichosz and Tammy Wherley - Know Your Rights: Police Encounters
    This panel will discuss students' rights with regard to their encounters with police, whether it's at a public protest, a traffic stop, or a demonstration on campus.

  • Greg Cady and Katie Hardyman - Serving Formerly Incarcerated Students 
    Both Greg and Katie have had extensive experience working with students who were formerly incarcerated. Join them for a conversation about how MSCS currently serves students with a criminal record and how we can continue to serve these students.

Narratives from Southeast Minnesota 
MSC Southeast students and alumni will share experiences, stories, and insights they experienced or continue to experience, as they navigate college, while also navigating life and all that it can entail. This discussion will have panelists talk openly about issues that have sometimes made them feel "unseen" or "unheard."
