Online Learning at Southeast

Online learning is a flexible alternative to face-to-face classes. Assignments, classmate/instructor interactions, and course materials are made available to you online.

Two Types

There are two types of distance learning courses: fully online and hybrid.

Fully Online Courses

  • All course requirements can be completed online
  • There are no on-campus meetings (except for perhaps one meeting at the beginning of the course)
  • May require proctored tests in a secured environment

Hybrid Courses

Brightspace by Desire 2 Learn (D2L)

All online courses use the D2L Brightspace online platform. D2L Brightspace gives you access to all your online resources for your class, as well as interactions with your classmates and instructor.

If you are taking an online class, we highly encourage you to learn more about D2L Brightspace and try it yourself! 

Online Isn't Necessarily Easier

Some people mistakenly believe online learning is easier. Certainly the flexibility of online learning makes it easier to work into your daily life. But it can be much more work if you aren't prepared and well organized.
